Yaiza’s Mayor, Óscar Noda, has announced that the new LIDL store in Playa Blanca that was granted a licence on Monday should open before Christmas.
After meeting Javier García Ibañez, head of expansion for LIDL in the Canaries; and Joaquín Cañada of Club Lanzarote, Noda said that works on the supermarket would be carried out simultaneously by both companies and should last for nine months, meaning that “the opening of the supermarket is predicted for the month of December.”
García Ibanez said “We’re talking about a standard supermarket similar to the other LIDL stores on Lanzarote. For us, it’s a dream come true to be able to establish ourselves in the south of the island 10 years after we opened our first store in Arrecife.”
