Three quarters of a million people arrived at Lanzarote Airport in the month of August, an all-time record for the island.

The total of 756,534 arrivals was 4% higher than last year’s August figure, and reflects an increase that was seen throughout the Canary Islands, which received just over four million passengers in August.

The greatest volume was experienced by Gran Canaria’s airport, with 1,129,345, although Tenerife’s two airports (Sur and Norte-Ciudad de La Laguna) far exceeded this figure with a total of over 1.5 million arrivals between them.

9.6 million flights are available for the winter season in the Canaries (November to March), another record which could see annual records smashed on the islands.
