Two Lanzarote teams head into the Christmas break neck-and-neck, both unbeaten at the top of Group L of Spain’s Third Division.
UD Lanzarote and Unión Sur Yaiza head the table with 32 points each, and an identical record of wins, draws and goal difference. Lanzarote only lead by goals scored, but head into the break after a thumping 4-1 victory over Buzanada yesterday.
The island’s other side in the division, San Bartolomé, are in a respectable mid-table position at 12th, but have also found their form recently with three wins on the trot.
The season will take a long Christmas break now, returning on Three Kings Day, the 6th of January, two weeks before what is sure to an exciting local derby as Yaiza host UD Lanzarote on the 20th.
