Each Lanzarote resident recycled more than 45 kilos of glass last year, the highest figure on the Canary Islands.
According to Ecovidrio, Lanzarote led the Canaries in glass recycling, with a total that is more than double the Canarian average of 22.1 kilos a year per inhabitant. Lanzarote’s high total is likely to be the result of widely available recycling containers and the efficient recycling practices in the tourist resorts.
Almost 50,000 tonnes of glass were recycled in the Canaries last year, a new record.
