Lanzarote’s presence at the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) has been defined by “strategic partnership building”, “a cohesive long term strategy”, and “a high impact agenda” designed to elevate the island’s profile.

“The fair has once again been the starting point for the year and a key space for accelerating projects, consolidating partnerships, and demonstrating the roadmap that guides the promotion of tourism in the destination,” stated the Cabildo President, Oswaldo Betancort.

Over the four-day event, the island’s delegation held approximately 70 meetings with airlines, institutions, tour operators, and other entities. Héctor Fernández, CEO of SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote, explained that this “broad and diverse agenda is not the result of chance, but rather of planning aligned with the destination’s objectives and aimed at identifying the partners capable of promoting and accelerating the strategic lines on which the island has been working.”

Central to the island’s messaging at FITUR was a reinforced commitment to positioning Lanzarote as an experiential, diverse destination with a strong identity. The presentation of projects linked to gastronomy, culture, music, sport, and innovation forms part of a vision focused on creating distinctive experiences.  An approach that “aims to increase tourist spending and benefit the local economy.”

Reflecting on the effort behind the scenes, Betancort highlighted “the enormous amount of work behind each agreement and each project presented at FITUR. It is not just a matter of signing documents, but of months of effort, coordination, and commitment on the part of a technical and professional team that has once again demonstrated its ability to place Lanzarote in a position of leadership.”

Héctor Fernández noted that “the true value of FITUR lies not in direct sales, but in the meetings, the agreements and the coherence of a strategy that is rolled out in an orderly manner. Every meeting, every agreement and every presentation is part of a defined work plan, aimed at finding allies that will enable us to move forward more quickly and be more effective in promoting the destination.”
