Lanzarote’s gastronomic sector came together this week to outline ambitious promotional plans, spearheaded by the Cabildo.

Dozens of representatives from producers, primary sector associations, wineries, cheese makers, chefs, hoteliers, and federations, many of them young professionals, attended a key presentation. The event demonstrated a sector willing to continue its collaborative work in the promotional activities championed by the island’s government.

A Prime Position at Madrid Fusión 2026

The stage is Madrid Fusión Alimentos de España, the country’s most influential gastronomic meeting, holding its 24th edition from 26 to 28 January at IFEMA Madrid under the slogan “The customer takes control.”

The president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, expressly thanked the sector for its involvement and the joint work undertaken during the current term. “Today shows that we have a committed sector that understands that gastronomy is a strategic lever for the development of the island,” he stated.

“We want tourism that directly benefits citizens, generating opportunities, employment, and quality of life. And gastronomy, linked to our territory, our products, and our identity, is key to that equation,” said the president.

An Island Delegation

The Minister of Economic Promotion, Nori Machín, highlighted the intense preparatory work carried out alongside the sector to attend Madrid Fusión with an unprecedented delegation. “Lanzarote will travel to Madrid with more than 12 producers, 11 cheese makers (for the first time), 7 wineries, more than 15 chefs, and numerous professionals who faithfully represent the entire value chain,” explained Machín.

She described the sector’s enthusiastic response to the presentation as “a clear endorsement of the joint work we have been doing.”

The Saborea Lanzarote Festival Returns

One of the most significant announcements was President Betancort’s confirmation that the Cabildo will present the Saborea Lanzarote Food and Wine Festival for the first time at the FITUR trade fair this Wednesday. Celebrating its 15th anniversary, the festival is set for a major return. Its presentation in Madrid marks a milestone that reinforces the destination’s international profile and its firm commitment to gastronomy as a defining feature.

Next week, Madrid Fusión 2026 will host its most international edition to date, acting as a grand showcase for national gastronomic tourism. Seventeen leading destinations will participate at the Saborea España stand, including Lanzarote, La Graciosa, Fuerteventura, La Palma, and Tenerife, placing Canarian cuisine firmly in the national spotlight.
