The Times newspaper have recently published an online list of the “10 best places to go in January – with no jet lag” featuring both Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.

Listing both Lanzarote and nearby island Fuerteventura, The Times have promoted the islands’ weather, culture, and stunning beaches.

Lanzarote features 7th on the list, with the opening paragraph reading “Thanks to the campaigning of the visionary local artist César Manrique, sun-baked volcanic Lanzarote has managed to remain relatively low rise and low key. That’s not to say it lacks grotty — or should that be Lanzagrotty — bits: witness the eyesore that is the Arrecife Gran Hotel. However, it’s easy enough to avoid the ugly parts, and factoring in some walking is one of the best ways to experience the island’s more authentic face.”

Famous wines

One of Lanzarote’s “must-do” activities listed is the wine region. The Times article explains, “Lanzarote’s much-lauded wine region is a must-do. Because of the unforgiving terrain and harsh winds, vines are cultivated here either in volcanic craters or clinging to lava fields, the end result producing everything from bone-dry whites to subtly sweet Malvasia.”
