Cabildo president Oswaldo Betancort has requested a meeting with Spain’s airport authority AENA to discuss the future of César Manrique Airport.
AENA plans to remodel the airport in 2026 with a budget of €140 million, extending and renovating Terminal 1’s check-in, boarding and security zones and effectively joining both terminals.
As the Cabildo also plans works in the airport zone and the LZ-2 main road, Betancort has proposed a meeting to co-ordinate projects. He said, “We want the remodelling of the airport terminal area to be inspired by the Lanzarote landscape and the spirit of César Manrique’s work, with an architectural proposal that engages with the surroundings.”
Betancort also plans to raise the subject of the queues resulting from a shortage of border officers. “More human resources and equipment is required for an efficient service,” he said.
