It has been revealed this week that Lanzarote Airport will soon have an extra 45 National Police agents delegated to border control duties.

Senator, Pedro San Ginés, confirmed the news and highlighted its importance stating, “I think the decision may have been taken for fear of sanctions that may come from Europe for the union complaints of the lack of personnel at the airport for the control of non-EU passengers.”

“Years ago, it was estimated the need for a staff of about 90 personnel, and it is now when it has been approved. The number of agents has doubled, which proves that there was a need for it”, San Ginés said in closing.
