La Graciosa witnessed what may be its first ever traffic accident on Friday, when two vehicles collided on Calle Margarona in Caleta de Sebo.
This street is a sandy track, like every other street in the small town, and there are no road markings or signs. At 3.40 pm a local resident informed emergency services that two 4X4 vehgicles had been involved in a collision.
Firemen attended the scene and discovered both drivers outside their vehicles. They placed cervicval collars on each person and, when health workers arrived, they were transferred to a spinal stretcher and removed in an ambulance.
There are 200 motor vehicles on La Graciosa, and none are available for hire.
