This year the number of tourists that arrived from Italian airports has dropped by almost 18,000 people.
From January to October this year, a total of 65,938 people arrived from Italy, almost 18,000 fewer than the same period in 2023 when the island recorded 83,562 people.
It was only in the start of the year, in January and February, that the number of tourists from Italy were higher than that of 2023, while the months between March and October experienced a decrease.
The decrease can be partly attributed to the reduction in Lanzarote’s connectivity with Italy in recent months, which may have also impacted prices.
There were three fewer flights to Italy in the summer, with Ryanair cancelling one flight to Turin and one to Rome that it had in operation in 2023 – meaning a reduction of almost 800 seats per week.
Although EasyJet added one more flight to Rome this winter, Ryanair cancelled two meaning that the capacity with Italy on all airlines fell by 200 people per week compared to last winter.
