Today is the Dia de Nuestra Señora de los Volcanes (The Day of Our Lady of the Volcanoes), the annual holiday in honour of Lanzarote’s patron.

As a result, many shops and businesses will be closed, especially outside the resorts.

This is not a national holiday, meaning that normal electricity tariffs will apply.

The holiday will be marked with masses, an evening concert and fireworks at Mancha Blanca, although the big final event, a concert by international Latin superstar Juanes, will take place on Saturday night.
