This March was the warmest on record, and the fifth driest since records began in 1961.
March 31st was the warmest spring day ever recorded on Lanzarote, with 34 degree temperatures that were 11 degrees higher than the seasonal average.
Rain has also been in short supply this year. The heavy rains of early December were the last time that Lanzarote exceeded averages, and in March and April average rainfall has been a third of the usual 12mms.
