Holiday home thief arrested

The Guardia Civil have arrested a 28-year-old for a series of robberies in holiday homes in Charco del Palo.

Last month, the Guardia Civil were alerted to a series of robberies and criminal damage at a number of holiday homes in Charco del Palo after a witness had reported that a person had damaged a vehicle and entered several homes.

In one of the holiday homes the alleged perpetrator had damaged the interior and taken diving equipment valued at over 8,000 euros.

The Guardia Civil launched an investigation and began gathering data and witness statements to try to identify the perpetrator or perpetrators.

After reviewing surveillance footage, the Guardia Civil identified the 28-year-old alongside witness descriptions of them.

The 28-year-old was arrested last month in Charco del Palo and taken to the police station in Costa Teguise where they showed desire to cooperate with the agents and return the stolen items.

The detainee is now awaiting the following legal proceedings.
