Another hiker has been rescued from the Caldera Blanca in Tinajo after falling.
Emergency services were called out at 3.30 pm to attend to a 68-year-old woman who had fallen on the pathway to Lanzarote’s largest volcanic crater. Once on the scene, firemen confirmed that she had suffered a severe bruise to the hip and injured a wrist.
The walker was stretchered to the car park where she was attended by paramedics form the Canarian Health Service.
The route to Caldera Blanca has become increasingly popular recently but is more challenging than many other walks on the island, with rough volcanic terrain and an ascent over loose scree.
