German police to reinforce Guardia Civil

German Polizei officers will reinforce Guardia Civíl agents in Tías during the high tourist season of August.

The Mixed International Patrols scheme is part of the Safe Tourism Plan that aims to increase security in tourist areas at times when tourism is high. 

In Tías, the German agents will set up a desk at the Guardia Civil post near the Biosfera shopping centre, where German tourists can be attended in their own language.

The plan will also see Polizei deployed in Puerto Mogan in Gran Canaria and Italian Caribinieri in Vecindario, Gran Canaria. In previous years, Irish, Swedish and British police have also formed part of international patrols in Las Palmas province.
