Lanzarote’s Cabildo presented four new buses this Wednesday, which will reinforce the fleet of inter-urban buses on the island.
Transport Councillor Marcos Bergáz presented the vehicles alongside Intercity Bus director Esther Cabrera at the interchange in Arrecife yesterday.
The new buses will initially used to reinforce the 22 and 23 services between the airport and Arrecife, as well as the No 30 internal Playa Blanca circular service.
“The aim is to tackle the huge increase in demand for public transport,” said Bergáz, pointing out that over a million journeys had been taken on the island’s buses in the first two months of 2023, compared to just over 720,000 in the same period last year.
Bergáz also indicated that a further three buses would be purchased shortly, an elkectrric vehicle and two hybrids.
