Lanzarote recorded a drop in foreign tourist arrivals in April, with fewer visitors arriving from key markets including the UK and Germany, according to figures published by the Canary Islands Statistics Institute (ISTAC).
A total of 233,770 international tourists arrived at Lanzarote Airport during the month, representing a 6.2% decrease compared with April last year.
The UK remained the island’s largest overseas market, although British visitor numbers fell significantly. Arrivals from UK airports totalled 136,248, around 6,000 fewer than in April 2025, when 142,244 British tourists visited the island.
Germany also saw a notable decline. Lanzarote welcomed 20,734 German tourists in April, down by more than 5,000 compared with the 25,851 recorded during the same month last year.
Irish tourism, currently the island’s second-largest foreign market, also dipped slightly. Visitor numbers from Ireland fell from 31,023 in April 2025 to 29,998 this year.
French tourism remained broadly stable, with 16,132 arrivals from France compared with 16,317 a year earlier.
Italy was one of the few markets to show growth, with arrivals increasing from 6,150 last April to 7,117 this year.
Meanwhile, the Dutch market also experienced a decline, falling from 7,738 visitors in April 2025 to 7,117 last month.
