Spain’s weather agency, AEMET, has issued yellow and orange heat alerts for Monday and Tuesday.

Monday’s yellow alert will be in effect from 11 am until 8pm, and it is forecast that maximum temperatures of 35 degrees Celsius may be reached in the interior and south of Lanzarote.

The alert will be raised to orange, the second highest level, on Tuesday 7th July, with maximum temperatures of 37 degrees Celsius possible in the interior and the south.

Current forecasts also suggest that an orange alert is likely to be issued for Wednesday, with temperatures decreasing from Thursday onwards.
