Thousands of islanders and tourists travelled up the hill to La Villa de Teguise yesterday for the first day of the Festival Enogastronómico Saborea Lanzarote, the biggest food fair on the Canary Islands.
The weather smiled on an event that has been hit by heavy rain on recent editions, and Lanzarote’s old capital was abuzz with sights, sounds and, above all, aromas and flavours.
Tourist councillor Ángel Vázquez said “This year’s edition is a turning point, I’m certain. There is no other cultural event that can boast this level of organization and participation of local businesses.”
The food fair will continue all day today.
