Extra shuttle buses will be laid on this weekend to transport food lovers from Arrecife and Playa Blanca to the Cocinas Volcánicas Food Fair in Puerto del Carmen.
The Cabildo’s Mobility councillor, Andrés Stinga, announced that the frequency of buses which connect Arrecife and Playa Blanca with Puerto del Carmen will be increased, and that a shuttle bus service connecting the vía Medular in Puerto del Carmen with the Old Town would be provided every 15 minutes.
At the time of writing, no new bus timetables have been released yet.
The food festival will take place on Saturday the 26th and Sunday the 27th of November in Puerto del Carmen’s Old Town harbour area, and will see over 60 stalls offering the best of Lanzarote cooking, wine and produce.
Although the event has a different title to the festival that took place in Teguise for several years, it now appears that this is the island’s main food fair, promoted by Saborea Lanzarote and organised by the same team.
This has caused anger in Teguise, where the event was a huge boost to local business, and accusations that Socialist party members in the Cabildo are favouring their own municipalities.
