150,000 €1 tickets were exchanged for food and drink at this weekend’s Cocinas Volcánicas food fair in Puerto del Carmen, a figure that far exceeded expectations and left a number of stallholders short.

All the cookery workshops and talks were also fully booked over the weekend.

In a possible riposte to Teguise councillors who complained that the island’s biggest food fair was not held in La Villa de Teguise, as it had been on previous occasions, Cabildo President María Dolores Corujo said that the “massive attendance justifies our decision to choose this place.”

Tias Mayor José Juan Cruz also thanked the participants and all who attended the event.
