Firemen removed a swarm of bees from a garden in Costa Teguise yesterday afternoon.
The swarm was reported in the garden of a house on C/Panama in the resort at 6.15 pm.
Firemen arrived and with the assistance of a local beekeeper, who took charge of the insects, the swarm was removed. Wild bees have never been common on Lanzarote because of the island’s dry and breezy conditions, but recent attempts to establish hives of Canarian black bees have had some success.
