Fariones Hotel Seeks Approval for Beachfront Terrace Bar

The Fariones Hotel has requested permission to occupy public space in order to build a terrace bar on the Fariones beach.

The beach, located between Playa Chica and Playa Grande, would lose 64 square metres of public land if Spain’s Coastal Department were to approve the application.

Several years ago, the Coastal Department turned down an application by the Fariones Group, to create a restricted beach area that would cost €10 to enter.

Spanish law prohibits the establishment of private beaches, with all areas of the coast supposedly accessible to members of the public.
