Emergency services released two people who had got trapped in very different ways yesterday.
The first case occurred when a three-year-old child in Arrecife managed to lock himself in the family bathroom. Firemen arrived and swiftly managed to free the child using nothing more than a screwdriver.
Later, In the evening, firemen used a hydraulic spreading device to free a woman who had been trapped between two cars in the parking area of the Levain bakery in Tahiche.
The woman had arrived at the bakery with her husband in separate cars and had climbed out of her vehicle to speak to him without engaging the handbrake. The 4×4 then rolled backwards, trapping her by the knees between the two vehicles. Once released, the woman was taken to hospital for treatment.
