Puerto del Carmen and surrounding areas suffered power cuts yesterday evening after what appears to be a technical fault in the electricity sub-station at Mácher.

While short power cuts were reported in Tías and Tahiche, Puerto del Carmen was plunged into darkness for over 2 hours. Only hotels with their own generators were able to continue as usual. The power cut also affected lighting on  roads in the Tías area.

This morning, it has been reported that the power cut also affected water production, and Canal Gestion have advised islanders that several areas may suffer reduced water supply,  low pressure, or even water cuts as a result.

Areas already affected include Haría, Máguez, Punta Mujeres, Arrieta, Guatiza, Nazaret, Tahíche, Teguise, Famara, La Santa, Tiagua, Soo, Muñique, Tías, Mácher, Conil, La Asomada, Yaiza and Uga.
