According to data published by the Cabildo, El Golfo’s green lake receives an average of almost 2,500 visitors per day but has the capacity for 1,900 visitors.
The capacity is determined by the number of visitors that can access the area before there are adverse effects on the surroundings, resident population or environment. Currently, the famous green lake is receiving 30% more visitors per day than it can handle.
With almost 2,500 visitors per day, the area sees 429 visitors passing through per hour.
According to the Cabildo’s data, the number of visitors is above areas of interest such as the the Volcán del Cuervo (with 466 daily visits) and Caldera Blanca (100 daily visits).
At the time of writing, the Cabildo has only announced to establish limits at Volcán del Cuervo and Caldera Blanca, and not at the green lake.
