An Iberia Express flight from Madrid to Fuerteventura was diverted to the Lanzarote last weekend after a drone was seen flying too close to the airport.
At approximately midday last Saturday, an Iberia Express flight due to land at the Fuerteventura airport was forced to divert to Lanzarote after a drone was seen flying in the restricted air space near the airport.
This isn’t the first time that a drone has caused problems, in April this year 12 flights had to be rerouted and two flights were cancelled after the presence of a drone at the Gran Canaria airport.
The penalties for these actions can range from 60 euros up to 225,000 euros depending on the severity of the case. In this instance, the penalty is reported by La Voz to be around 90,000 euros.
