The Coast and Sea Department has commenced the demolition of parts of the Aparthotel Fariones that were built illegally on public land.
The demolition sentence was passed 20 years ago, the result of a lawsuit that commenced in 1990, but it is only today that it is being carried out.
Workers have already fenced off the area that will be demolished, which includes a bar and several hundred square metres of gardens and terraces. All have been ruled to be against Spanish rules that say it is illegal to build on a beach or restrict the public’s access to the coast.
