The body of a striped dolphin was taken in for examination after it washed up on the Playa de Famara yesterday.

The female dolphin was initially reported to local police, who called in experts from the Canarian Society of Cetacean Studies (CECAC) to assess the situation.

The dolphin, whose body was said to be in an excellent state of conservation, was then moved with the help of Lanzarote’s volunteer firemen and will be analysed further.
