Over quarter of a million cruise passengers arrived at Arrecife’s ports in the first six months of this year, according to figures from the Cabildo’s Statistics Centre.
The figure is almost double the amount over the same period last year, when Covid restrrictions were still in place for cruise passengers. However, it is also 15% higher than the same period in 2019, before the pandemic.
The majority of cruise passengers hail from the UK, Germany and Italy.
The next cruise season, which will begin in earnest in late September, will see over 240 stops by cruisers at Arrecife. It has still not been confirmed whether Playa Blanca will be permitted to receive cruisers at its recently-extended port facilities.
