Prosecutors have opened a case against four Canarian businessmen who are accused of fraud relating to the purchase and supply of face masks and other personal protective equipment (PPE) during the Covid pandemic.

The accused include the President of UD Las Palmas, Miguel Ángel Ramírez, ex-politician Lucas Bravo de Laguna and businessmen Christian Cerpa Espino and Noel Jammal Fernández.

Charges relate to around 9-10 million of public money spent on PPE in the early stages of the lockdown that “does not correspond to the material provided”.

This is the third case investigating alleged corruption during the Covid crisis in the Canaries.
