The César Manrique Foundation (FCM) has lodged formal objections to the planned macro-roundabout at the western entrance to Arrecife.
The project involves a huge 120-metre raised roundabout with exit roads to the main LZ-2 road, the outer Arrecife ring road, Arrecife centre and the suburb of El Cable. Two smaller roundabout s will also improve access to the coastal area of El Cable.
The FCM claims the project “is not coherent” with the published aims of energy transition nor the transport model of the island. It says that the raised roundabout solution is unnecessary, and that a level roundabout would fulfil all requirements at much lower cost and impact to the environment.
