Coalición Canaria Yaiza have called for immediate action on improving several zebra crossings in the municipality, most notably on Calle La Lapa in Playa Blanca.
“There are crossings where parked vehicles or elements of public services limit or impede the visibility of the pedestrian and driver, others with signage and road markings with hardly any paint and also with insufficient lighting,” CC Yaiza stated.
Spokesman, Emilio Machín, considers it necessary that “given the numerous deficiencies that are present” these crossings are, “putting both pedestrians and drivers and risk and it is necessary that Yaiza Ayuntamiento take action.”
Machín specifically mentioned “to act immediately on the crossing that is at the height of the football field, located on Calle Vista”, adding “a point of light on the side of the roadway and using reflective paints or luminous devices on the ground to help its identification by drivers”.
Additionally, Machín requested to act immediately in improving the signage and lighting on Calle La Lapa that runs along the skatepark, sports pitch and children’s playground in Playa Blanca.
