Card payment on buses from April

Passengers on Lanzarote’s buses will be able to pay for fares using bank cards from April onwards.

Cabildo President Oswaldo Betancort announced that €280,000 had been spent to install the required equipment in the 62 buses that operate on the island.

Transport councillor Domingo Cejas said “This development will meet  the demands of residents and tourists and speed up the operation of bus services.”

A card payment system has already been trialled on three routes – the No 16 linking La Santa with Los Valles, Playa Blanca’s No 30 interior route and the 22 and 161 services linking Arrecife and Playa Blanca with the airport.
