Last Friday night, fire fighters were called to the windmill roundabout at the entrance to Playa Blanca after reports that a car had crashed into the structure.
At approximately 11:30pm last Friday night, the emergency services were called to the windmill roundabout in Playa Blanca after reports that a car had crashed into the structure and burst into flames.
Upon arrival, fire fighters discovered that witnesses managed to rescue to the 30-year-old driver from the vehicle before it burst into flames. He had suffered a possible hip and femur fracture and was taken to the Dr Jose Molina Orosa hospital in Arrecife for further treatment.
As of this morning the car has been removed along with any debris from the accident, however, the windmill is badly damaged with a large hole in the side which will now need to be repaired at the cost of municipal funds.
