Canaries aim to bring German tourists back

The Canaries will attend the Berlin Travel Fair this week with the aim of luring German tourists back to the islands.

Germany accounts for almost 16% of foreign visitors to the Canaries, and is Lanzarote’s second-most important market, sending 305,000 tourists to the island last year, but economic problems following Russia’s invasion of the Ukraine took their toll on tourist figures.

Those figures had rallied by the end of last year, but the German market is still not as large as it has been in recent years and the Canaries is keen to reverse that situation.

The fair takes place in Berlin from Tuesday to Thursday this week.
