The new arts and culture festival titled Canari starts this week and will bring The Divine Comedy and several other bands to Lanzarote and La Graciosa.

The festival will take place on the 17th, 18th and 19th, and will bring “experiences linked with music, the landscape, food and heritage” to various venues on Lanzarote and La Graciosa.

The headline act for the festival is The Divine Comedy, the band formed by Northern Irish musician Neil Hannon, who had a top ten UK hit in 1999 with National Express and composed music for the classic sitcom Father Ted.

Spanish artist Maika Makovski, garage rockers The Parrots and the popular indie group Zürych, who hail from Lanzarote, are among the other acts to appear.
