Cabildo withdraws tourist places

The Cabildo’s planning department have withdrawn 1,348 tourist places that never materialized.

The island works on the amount of “beds” or places for tourists. That’s currently around 72,000, with about 65,000 actually being offered. The places had been allotted under a law that allows promoters to apply for new places if they undertake renovations and improvements.

In this case, five years had passed with no action taken, and the allocated places were withdrawn.

Although no tourists ever used the places, the decision prevents them being used in the future.
