Lanzarote’s Cabildo and the Ayuntamiento of Haría have unveiled a statue in homage to Ladislao Rodríguez Bonilla, the 82-year-old local resident fondly nicknamed “El Mudo de Haría” (The Deaf-Mute of Haría)
The statue, in Haría’s Plaza de la Constitución, portrays Ladislao leaning on a barber’s chair, a job he performed for many years in Haría after studying hairdressing in Gran Canaria.
A much -loved resident of Haría, he was also a talented footballer and Canarian wrestler and has devoted much of his life to the two sports in the north of Lanzarote.
