Lanzarote’s Cabildo plans to reinforce the island’s recycling services with the addition of three new drivers, six rubbish collectors and two side-loading refuse trucks devoted to the collection of light packaging and paper/cardboard.

Almost €900,000 will be added to the contract with the Urbaser company to cover the service, and this extra amount will be funded by the Cabildo

Up until now, the recycling service has consisted of 11 drivers, six collectors, a technical expert and an environmental educator, along with as fleet of 13 vehicles.

Almost 4,000 tons of paper waste were collected at the recycling centre in Zonzamas last year, as well as 2,500 tons of light packaging.
