The Cabildo has placed a “unique monitoring device” and new signs in the area of Montaña Corona in Haría after online influencers posted a video of themselves entering the restricted Cave of the Seven Lakes.

Entry to the volcanic cave is strictly forbidden, but the video showed the influencers entering the cave and jumping into one of the pools within. It is also stated that the gates that prevent access to the cave were vandalised.

The new signs remind visitors that unauthorised access is forbidden and informs them about the limits on drone use and the consequences of straying from the footpath.

Cabildo Environment Councillor Samuel Martín said ““This strategy goes beyond signage, now we have the tools to monitor, inform and act more effectively in the protection of the environment”.
