The Cabildo has approved the construction of a composting plant at the environmental complex at Zonzamas.
The plant will have the capacity to handle 3,500 tons of biowaste and 875 tons of plant remains a year, producing 2,600 tons of compost. The plant will be introduced in tandem with the introduction of new organic waste recycling bins throughout the island.
The plant will consist of a 2,200-square-meter warehouse equipped with a trench fermentation system and ventilation, which will accelerate the composting process. Investment of €7 million has been earmarked for the project.
