Spain’s Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, announced yesterday that discounts for intercity bus transport on the Canaries will be increased from 30% to 50% from September 1st.
The measure will last until December 31st, with a transfer of over €2 million from state funds expected. The announcement appears to indicate that the discount may only apply to bonos (monthly travel cards) and multi-trip tickets of the kind that are frequent on other islands.
Sánchez, currently on holiday at the palace in Las Maretas, Costa Teguise, has introduced the measure to bring the islands into line with mainland Spain.
We’ll let you know more about the scheme when more details are released.
