Leo’s Burgers in Costa Teguise is rapidly making a name for itself in the burger world, both here on Lanzarote and further afield. We went along to find out why.

LEO’S BURGERS ADVERTORIAL

Pop into the Los Charcos Shopping Centre on an evening at the weekend and you’re likely to find a queue. Ask them what they’re waiting for and they’ll point to Leo’s Burgers, a little restaurant with a big reputation.

Leo’s was opened by Leo and his partner Liga at the end of 2020. With the pandemic still underway, it was a confusing time when strict table limits applied and home deliveries were much in demand. But once the restrictions eased, Leo’s quickly got into its groove.

What Leo’s do is gourmet burgers, reflecting a hugely popular global scene. When you take a table at Leo’s you can be certain that the bread is fresh from local bakeries; the burgers are homemade from 100% Angus beef, fresh chicken or other products, and you’ll be tempted by a genuinely original and mouth-watering menu.

You can choose from burgers such as the best-selling Meat and Cheese Feast, the delicious Maniatica with peanut butter and tomato jelly or the locally-influenced Cabra Loca (Crazy Goat), with goat’s cheese and delicious caramelised onions.

Every month Leo’s creates a new Burger of the Month, experimenting with ingredients and flavours, and if you can’t see exactly what you fancy on the menu, go to the Burger Factory and choose your own ingredients.

Then there are the ribs, made to a special recipe with huge portions that are already becoming almost as legendary as the burgers. Starters and desserts are lovingly prepared by Leo’s mum, and five types of fries are on offer.

“Business has shot up recently,” smiles Liga. “We’re a little bit hidden away here, so it’s been residents who have discovered us first, but we already have loads of regulars.”

But Leo’s isn’t just a local legend. Liga and Leo also attend burger events throughout Europe, in Brussels, Stockholm and Germany. They’ll be at the Tenerife Burgerfest this month and were the only representatives of Lanzarote at the Best Burger Competition in Spain this year.

Last year, Leo’s received national coverage when they were visited by Joe Burgerchallenge, the most famous burger influencer in Spain, who has 230,000 followers on Instagram and almost a million subscribers on YouTube.

Leo’s is already planning to expand its premises to deal with demand, and that demand reflects the restaurant’s welcoming attitude and serious attitude to food. “This isn’t fast food,” says Liga. “We want you to take your time and enjoy the experience”.
