Cabildo Vice President, Jacobo Medina, visited the Arrieta wind toy to supervise its restoration this week and is pleased with the progress.
“It is a pride to see how a wind toy as important as the one that was installed in Arrieta, is being treated with so much affection by the workers,” said Medina.
“We celebrate this Wednesday the 105th anniversary of the birth of César Manrique, and with the mind set on preserving his legacy, we continue betting on the rehabilitation of his works,” he added.
The Cabildo removed the wind toy from the Arrieta roundabout in February, in order to replace the support bearing that makes it rotate with the wind.
“We started the plan with ‘Fobos’, we continue with Arrieta’s and, once finished, we will continue with the rest of the island’s wind toys, among them the one that César made in honour of Pepín Ramírez,” Medina concluded.
