Arrecife Mayor Yonathan de León has urged Arrecife businesses to open on Sundays to take advantage of cruise tourism.
The immense cruiser Anthem of the Seas will dock at Arrecife tomorrow, carrying 6,500 passengers – most of them from America. As a result, Arrecife has organised various public events, such as dancing, live music and art activities.
These events are intended to encourage local shops and cafés to open on Sundays and public holidays, to help local businesses and improve the experience of cruise visitors.
The Anthem of the Seas is the largest cruiser scheduled to stop at Arrecife this season, and cruise tourism is expected to increase from October, when several weekly stops by various boasts are scheduled.
