The Commissioner of the National Police Station in Arrecife was fined for drunk driving in the early morning of Saturday.
José Luís Gutierrez registered an alcohol level of 0.59 milligrams per litre, more than double the current limit of 0.25 mg/l, after being breathalysed by Local Police officers in the vicinity of Arrecife Marina at 3.30 am.
He is subject to a fine of up to €1,000 and may lose six points on his licence. The National Police are “evaluating further disciplinary procedures”.
