Vanesa Cumber was crowned the Queen of Arrecife’s carnival last night, wearing a stunningly designed costume by Kevin Rodríguez titled “Simply Friends”.
Rodríguez also designed the costume of Suhaila Bouddih Hernández, who won the title of Junior Queen. Both Queens will take pride of place in this evening’s parade.
The election of the Queens is one of the last events in the carnival before the big parade. This evening’s parade – the first and the biggest on the island – will begin at the Cruz Roja roundabout in Arrecife and 6 pm and make its way past the Open Mall to the Agramar complex at Puerto Naos.
The first few hundred metres of the route, from the Cruz Roja roundabout to the football pitch, will be low noise, for those with smaller children and sensitivity issues. Then the drums will start to thunder.
