Arrecife Ayuntamiento has urged the Lanzarote Cabildo to carry out sanitation works in the Charco de San Ginés, following an incident last week which saw a burst pipe leak sewage onto the walkway and into the Charco itself.
Last week, photos and videos began surfacing on social media showing pools of sewage on the walkway in the Charco. Residents and business owners complained about the bad smell left by the sewage.
Mayor of Arrecife, Astrid Pérez, stated that “Arrecife has been asking for this situation to be fixed for a long time. The Cabildo have had the project drawn up and have not yet executed it, causing these issues and bad smells in the area.”
